There is something magicical about the early morning hours on the river, still cool and comfortable, only the sound of the river and a few birds chirping. There's no boats coming down yet, no other voices. The caddis from yesterday start to flutter. The trout get ready to rise to the fly. I live for this, and all that comes with it. In the short window of summer hatches, maybe a month on each section of each river, these morning windows are even shorter. Mornings not to be missed.

Uh oh, time to break out these new waders pretty soon. The 2-year-old ones sprung a little left foot leak today. I've never had good luck patching foot holes. |
